One of the largest and strategic programs within the organisation is the Global Digital B2B program and GIS is heavily involved in this program.

Global Digital B2B (scope: outside Europe) aims to create value for the organisation and its RtM partners by creating a superior end-customer experience through digital eCommerce solutions. Together with the OpCos we have designed three distinct ecommerce models that can be implemented, depending on route-to-market configuration and digital maturity:

  • Owned Transaction (direct route-to-market): platform / mobile app on which sells directly to outlets
  • Order Transfer (indirect route-to-market): in a market with third party distributors, managed platform receives the order from an end-customer and transfers the order to the distributors for completion
  • Market scanner (indirect route-to-market): the market scanner app makes prices and service levels transparent for outlets and bulkbreakers / distributors and will potentially lead to higher price compliance on our assortment on outlet level.

Three different solutions have been used to create platforms in the lead OpCos:

  • SAP Hybris: the most advanced solution enabling large opcos with complex direct routes-to-market to do B2B business online as they do off line and beyond, including all required integrations. SAP Hybris is used to build the Owned Transaction solution for lead OpCo Mexico
  • Virto Commerce is a flexible and feature rich ecommerce platform allowing medium sized OpCos with up to medium complexity for both direct and indirect routes-to-market to implement in a short period of time. Virto Commerce is currently used to build the Order Transfer solution in lead OpCo Singapore
  • FATbit: an off-the-shelf solution that enables up to medium sized OpCos with low to medium complexity, an indirect Route-to-market and limited required integrations to swiftly implement a B2B ecommerce platform. The solution is currently piloted in South Africa.

Due to increasing ambition and the resulting activities, there is an urgent need to expand the team with an extra Solution Architect

Activities:

  • Translating long-term architecture vision, for both the regional platform an local architecture, into a concrete roadmap that demonstrates business value based on new technologies, including key trade-offs and business decisions
  • Designing IT architectures to meet business needs for the regional platform
  • Working with local & regional teams to successfully integrate new designs/ solutions and provide hands-on support on architecture topics
  • Ensuring that the solution architecture designed is in sync with overall business needs, hardware and connected systems
  • Ensuring stability of the regional IT landscape, developing & maintaining solution architecture tooling & artefacts
  • Communicating (pro-actively) software architecture standards & roadmap as part of deployment efforts and ensuring local OpCos architecture compliance
  • Creating and managing risk analyses for new solutions from an architecture perspective, while taking security, integration and testing into account
  • Managing software licensing, feeding Product Owner input for budget management
  • Pro-actively staying up to date on technology trends in the B2B e-commerce space, providing ideas to DevOps leadership on IT architecture topics
  • Managing technology stakeholders; explaining technical issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders and other IT professionals
