Linux Administrator
Maintenance Support
Monitoring system health, including backup status
Problem analysis and problem resolution
System upgrades and updates (e.g. from RHEL 5 to RHEL 6 or RHEL 7, SLES 11 SP3 to SLES 11 SP4 or SLES 12)
Implementation of patches and packages (functional and security), assuring that systems continue to function
Integration in management and administration tools (SUSE Manager, monit, potentially NAGIOS)
Creating and maintaining a system inventory and report
Installation and configuration of new or updated Linux systems (based on RHEL and SLES), including storage and network re- source configuration
Development of scripts supporting the automation of system administration task
Tasks need to be executed on site.
If required the SOV team will raise support tickets with suppliers via the established support channels for RHEL and SLES
Deliverables
Bi Weekly updated plan on:
Patches, updates and releases to be implemented
Bi Weekly report on :
Implementations completed (patches, updates, releases, etc.)
Incidents and problems (status on open / list of resolved)
System inventory and capacity report
Requirements
A substantial expertise in maintaining Linux systems.
Sufficient staff levels to cope with contingency situations
Able to identify senior key staff members who will be the commercial and technical interfaces during the execution of the contract.
Skills and Degree
Bachelor Degree (or similar) in computer science (or a related topic)
In depth understanding of Linux systems administration
3 – 4 years of professional experience in maintaining Linux systems in virtualized envi- ronments
Experience in installing, configuring and maintaining services like Apache, ActiveMQ, Tomcat, MySQL, nginx, etc.
Ability to analyse and resolve problems in a production environment
Experience in scripting and automation using e.g. Perl, bash, python or similar
Good understanding of storage and networking technology
Good understanding of VMware and KVM
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Able to work in a multicultural environment, and in a team
Capable of writing clear technical analyses and correct administrative reports, using the English language
Quality minded; attitude towards timely delivery
Quality of Proposal. A technical proposal showing understanding of the request and completing the
Service Levels described in Sections. Clearly indicating where its proposal would differ from the Service Levels and motivating why.
In addition, indicate where and why the proposal deviates from the Service Steering parameter
Creative extensions: Proposed improvements or future developments to MUAC’s infrastructure, foreseen as Change proposals (not binding).
Also desirable would be additional improvements to the contract execution.
